Summary of the apprenticeship

We are looking for a confident individual to join our friendly team as an Apprentice Accountant here on site in Bridgnorth. If you have an interest in accountancy, we would love to hear from you. You will be working from our office premises and will work on a multitude of tasks to obtain experience and exposure across all aspects of a career in accountancy.

What will the apprentice be doing?

 Assisting staff with the following on behalf of client/clients

Under supervision, completing the following:

  • Accounts preparation
  • Bookkeeping
  • Payroll
  • Assisting with the preparation and submission of VAT returns on behalf of clients
  • General office duties

Initially assisting and then completing under supervision

Training and qualification levels

  • On site online training provided.
  • Mentor on site to support with day-to-day learning.
  • Regular assessment to keep you on track.
  • AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting

Friday – 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

Qualifications required

  • 112 UCAS points across 3 A Levels or an equivalent level 3 qualification. This would ideally include A level Accountancy.

Future prospects

  • Undertaking more complex work unsupervised
  • Progression to ACA or ACCA apprenticeship

  • Working to deadlines
  • Understanding that client data is in various formats.
  • Understanding different types and techniques of bookkeeping, as displayed by clients.
  • Appreciating industry sectors

Astbury Accountants was established by Craig Astbury in Bridgnorth in 2012.

The business has steadily grown and there are now a further seven staff supporting Craig in servicing a variety of clients operating in numerous business sectors. The client base is fairly typical for an accountancy practice and comprises limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and personal clients. Most clients are based within a 30-mile radius with a few slightly further afield.
